MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Education and Science Ministry intends to intensify the military component of the Health and Safety course in Russian schools, Education and Science Minister Dmitry Livanov said.
"The instruction of Health and Safety is now changing, the aspects related to the military and patriotic education of students are being reinforced," Livanov said at a joint meeting of the presidium of the Russian Legislators' Council of the Federal Assembly on Wednesday.
"The sections of this course associated with the teaching of the foundations of state defense and the rights and duties of citizens associated with military service will be expanded," Livanov said.
Special attention will be given to military training and "everything needed for full-fledged preparation of school students for the fulfillment of this major [military] duty," he said.
