Ukrainian military, militia accuse each other of ceasefire violations

DONETSK/KYIV. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The situation in Donbas did not change considerably in the past 24 hours and military action continues in the area of the Donetsk airport and on the outskirts of the city of Debaltsevo, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic told Interfax on Thursday.

"The fighting for the Donetsk airport continued in the past 24 hours. Ukrainian army units remain there. There was also shelling in the area of the city of Debaltsevo," the source said.

The source also said some twenty ceasefire violations by the Ukrainian military were registered in the past 24 hours.

In the meantime, the press center for the Ukrainian military operation reported earlier on Thursday that attacks on the Ukrainian troops on the territory of the Donetsk airport continue.

According to the press center, four mortar attacks were carried out at the airport in the period between 7:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday and 4:00 a.m. local time on Thursday. "There are no casualties on out side," the source said.

Attacks against Ukraine checkpoints were also registered near the thermal electric power station in the city of Shchastya, which provides electrical power to Luhansk.

According to the press center, there was an attack on a checkpoint in the populated area of Bogdanovka. There is no information on the casualties.

A total of 33 attacks on Ukrainian military units were registered in the military operation zone in the past 24 hours, the report says.
