MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Defense Ministry has denied claims made by an adviser to Ukraine's Defense Minister Valeriy Heletey that students of the Kolomna Higher Command Artillery School were allegedly involved in fighting near Mount Savur-Mohyla in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.
"The Russian language simply has no words capable of commenting on this latest piece of nonsense from the Defense Ministry of Ukraine that was articulated by the Ukrainian defense minister's adviser Oleksandr Danylyuk," a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman told reporters on Friday.
"If one wants to hear comments on this nonsense, which was voiced by one of Heletey's advisers, we would recommend going not to the Defense Ministry of Russia, but to another institution which issues prescriptions and makes a diagnosis," the spokesman said.
"Certainly, paper, let along the Internet, does not blush, but we wonder what kind of stuff officials of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry smoke," he said.
The ministry spokesman described the Ukrainian official's remarks as a good example of Ukraine's lustration campaign.
"Even such "fantasy authors" should respect the audience and at least understand that most people are able to see the difference between nonsense bordering on madness and reality. As for students of the Kolomna Higher Commander Artillery School, I reiterate that this military school ceased to exist six years ago, in 2008," the spokesman said.
"Rather, these "advisers" should better be telling about "uranium blasting caps" and "a space blaster in Heletey's trouser pockets". At least, it would be interesting for junior school pupils who like science fiction," he said.
During World War II, in August 1943, graduates of Soviet artillery, aviation, infantry, tank and other military schools fought against Nazi forces for Savur-Mohyla, paving the way for the liberation of Donbas and Soviet Ukraine from the Nazi occupation, the spokesman said.
The Ukrainian defense minister's adviser Oleksandr Danylyuk said on his Facebook account earlier that students from Russia's Kolomna Higher Command Artillery School had been involved in artillery strikes against the Ukrainian army's positions.
