ISS performed space debris avoidance maneuver

MOSCOW. Oct 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The International Space Station has performed a space junk avoidance maneuver, sources in the Russian space industry told Interfax-AVN on Monday.

"Mission Control has ordered a maneuver to be performed to avoid collision with a piece of space debris flying dangerously near the trajectory of the ISS," the source said.

The orbit was raised by about one kilometer, he said.

Engines of the European ATV space truck were used to perform the maneuver," the source said.
