Russian pilot captured by Taliban in Afghanistan a year ago is now free - Russian Foreign Ministry (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - Russian pilot Pavel Petrenko, who was captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan in April 2013, is now free.

"Pavel Petrenko is now in the Russian embassy in Kabul and will return home in the nearest future," the Russian Foreign Ministry has reported.

Pavel Petrenko is a pilot of a Mi-8 helicopter which landed in the Afghan province of Logar in April 2013. He was released on October 29, the ministry said.

The Russian had been held by the Taliban since April 2013.
