NOVO-OGARYOVO. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to support Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the international forces from the country to maintain stability there, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"The situation in Afghanistan, of course, attracts the attention of the whole world, including in the area of responsibility of the CSTO," Putin said during a meeting with members of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) on Thursday.
Putin wished the people of Afghanistan success in the normalization of the situation in the country.
"However, we understand that the situation will not be easy after the international contingent leaves and, if need be, we will be ready to support our Afghan friends to keep the situation in the country stable and ensure that it has prospects of development," Putin said.
