UEC broadens cooperation with China

MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's United Engine Corporation (UEC) and China's AVIC will jointly develop a propulsion unit for a Russian-Chinese wide-fuselage airplane, a UEC spokesperson said.

"Talks held in Zhuhai confirmed both parties being keen on implementing the project for joint development of a modern engine with increased traction," the company said in a press release obtained by Interfax-AVN on Monday.

Also, at the Airshow China-2014, an international aerospace trade show, UEC and CATIC signed an agreement to develop the RD-93 engine for FC-1 fighter jets, which involves an engine upgrade, the statement said.

"UEC and its Chinese partners have also signed a number of contracts to supply accessories for Russian-made plane and helicopter engines used in China," the statement said.

UEC and AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine have resumed active talks over cooperation under the program for the creation of a CJ-1000 engine for C919 aircraft, including the possibility of the Russian company conducting a technical audit of the engine project.

"Contracts have been signed with China Taly Aviation Technologies Corp. for the supply of spare parts to ensure the licensed overhaul of the TV3-117/VK-2500 engines installed on Mil MI-17-class civilian helicopters," the press release said.
