MOSCOW. Nov 24 (Interfax) - Russian-Iranian cooperation in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) may become a test for strategic partnership, Vyacheslav Trubnikov, an expert on international affairs, said.
"I am glad that Russia and Iran understand the danger presented by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant," he said at the conference on the development of strategic partnership between Russia and Iran on Monday.
Trubnikov said "ISIS is a new extremist element," adding that combating this threat will become a test of Russian-Iranian cooperation.
"I see strategic partnership between Russia and Iran in combating ISIS, which poses a global danger, as a test for our interaction, our cooperation and strategic partnership," the diplomat said.
