BAKU. Jan 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Azerbaijan and Russia will hold joint military exercises in the Caspian Sea this year, Azeri Defense Ministry spokesman Vagif Dargahli told Interfax.
The exercises will be held under an agreement reached between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia at the Astrakhan summit of Caspian littoral states in September 2014 and a bilateral cooperation plan the two defense ministries signed in Baku in October of last year.
"The naval exercises will feature search-and-rescue, anti-contraband and other humanitarian missions," the spokesman said.
