Third sub built by Admiralty Shipyards for Vietnam to be delivered to Cam Ranh in late January

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax-AVN) - The third Project 636.1 HQ-184 Hai Phong diesel-electric submarine built at Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg for the Vientamese Navy will be delivered to its base in Cam Ranh in late January, a source in the Russian shipbuilding industry told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"The Hai Phong was loaded on a Dutch cargo vessel ad left for Cam Ranh, where it will join the Vietnamese Submarine Forces, on December 12," the source said.

The source said the submarine will reach the Vietnamese port on January 25-26.

The fourth submarine in the series is now being prepared for being provided to the Vietnamese Navy. The fifth and sixth hulls are now being built. The sixth submarine is scheduled to be set afloat in September 2015.

The first and the second submarines in the Vietnamese series HQ-182 Hanoi and HQ-183 Ho Chi Minh joined Brigade 189 of the Submarine Forces of the Vietnamese Navy in April 2014.
