Volnovakha bus blown up by directional mine - self-proclaimed Donetsk republic ombudsperson

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Darya Morozova, a human rights commissioner in the self-proclaimed Donetsk people's republic (DPR), suggests that the passenger bus that was destroyed near Volnovakha on January 13 had set off a directional mine rather than being hit by a Grad multiple rocket launcher.

"The DPR will conduct its own investigation. There is a preliminary conclusion that this was a directional mine," the Donetsk news agency quoted Morozova as saying on Thursday.

The DPR prosecutor's office on Wednesday had opened a criminal case into the January 13 attack on a bus near Volnovakha, in which 12 people were killed and 18 others injured.

The Ukrainian government forces and the militia have blamed each other for the tragedy.
