SEVEROMORSK. Jan 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The Northern Fleet destroyer Severomorsk has departed from the Omani port of Salalah for the Arabian Sea to protect a civilian convoy traveling through pirate-infested waters of the Gulf of Aden, Northern Fleet spokesman Capt. 1st Rank Vadim Serga told Interfax-AVN on Thursday.
"The ship has headed for the point of rendezvous of a new civilian convoy whose safety it will be protecting from pirates in the Gulf of Aden," Serga said.
Severomorsk reserves were replenished during the visit to Salalah. It was the first visit to a foreign port by the destroyer's crew during the current long-distance voyage.
