DONETSK. Jan 15 (Interfax) - A declaration of the full control of militia over the Donetsk airport is preliminary, a source in the militia staff of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) told Interfax on Thursday.
"To our knowledge the militia has freed the airport premises from Ukrainian servicemen but this information is preliminary as there may still be some isolated units of the enemy lingering in the airport," he said.
According to the militia staff, artillery cannonade is audible at the Donetsk airport.
The army operation press center said earlier on Thursday that the militia was bombing the airport at 2 p.m. local time. "Our "cyborgs" are standing bravely: they are repelling attacks of militants and are not going to leave the Donetsk airport, the newest symbol of Ukrainian courage. The enemy is suffering tangible losses," the report said.
