Surprise inspection begins at strategic rocket division in Krasnoyarsk territory

MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - A surprise inspection, ordered by the commander of the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces (RVSN), is underway at the RVSN's Uzhur-based missile division in the Krasnoyarsk territory, RVSN spokesman Col. Igor Yegorov told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"The inspection involves more than 1,200 servicemen," he said, adding that it is the first one to be started in the division this year.

The check covers a wide spectrum of counter-terrorism aspects, Yegorov said.

"Inspectors will look into command organizational skills to fulfill plans, measures to fight terrorism in the division, missile regiments and other formations," the spokesman said.

Special emphasis will be laid on counterterrorism units' readiness to fulfill the tasks assigned and of the units on duty to assume combat readiness. Priority alarm-call measures were practiced and the observance of pass control was checked.

"More than 20 tasks and assignments to block installations, rebuff attacks on columns, evacuate the personnel under the threat of a terror attack, and bomb disposal methods will be practiced. Interoperability with emergency situations, police and security services will be exercised, Yegorov said.

At least four such checks will be conducted in 2015, he said.

The RVSN's counter-terrorism units are intended to defend command posts, launch sites, control posts, and the missile systems' electricity supplies and communications services.
