Putin pledges to increase financing for advanced defense research projects foundation in 2015

NOVO-OGARYOVO. Moscow region. Jan 21 (Interfax) - President Vladimir Putin has pledged to increase the financing of the Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects in the Defense Industry which deals with breakthrough projects and ensures the serial production of innovative products.

Putin told the Military-Industrial Commission on Tuesday that the foundation's supervisory board had confirmed 49 projects and 26 of them were being implemented.

"The financing of the foundation is expected to increase this year," the Russian president said.

"In 2015 the foundation needs to focus its efforts on the accelerated development of the breakthrough industrial know-how which must match the new, sixth technological mode," the president said. He also said that "this type of know-how determines the future layout of the Russian defense and industrial complex, and guarantees the serial production of new-generation weapons and military hardware."

The president instructed Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin to pay special attention to the development of such know-how during the scheduled confirmation of the foundation's program.
