Shuvalov calls on all branches of power to consolidate in face of external pressure aimed at dividing Russian elite

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The external pressure on Russia is aimed at causing division inside the country and that necessitates consolidation of all branches of power and citizens of Russia, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said.

"Clearly, all this external pressure, organized external pressure is aimed at dividing us and creating a conflict inside of us. Anti-crisis management will become very difficult in this conflict," Shuvalov said at a meeting on anti-crisis measures held in the State Duma.

"The main thing in this situation is that all branches of power and citizens of Russia should now consolidate," Shuvalov said.

Speaking about the work on the government anti-crisis plan for 2015, Shuvalov said: "To achieve real consolidation supported by all political parties represented in the parliament, we need to work with all industry committees of the State Duma, with all factions to study our internal potential in a situation of both external and internal shrinkage and decide what events we should not conduct within the 2015 budget and what priority events need to be financed."

"This work needs to be done in the first quarter and we will be guided by the new socio-economic development forecast," Shuvalov said.
