Southern Military District holds combat preparedness training

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Jan 30 (Interfax-AVN) - More than 20,000 servicemen and over 7,000 pieces of weapons and military hardware engaged in combat preparedness training of Southern Military District units deployed in North Caucasian republics, the district press service said on Friday.

"Servicemen trained response to alert calls, pickup of weapons and gear, preparations to depart from a motor pool and advancement towards assembly areas. Once there, they focused on camouflage, fortifications and ground organization and prepared their weapons and hardware for the accomplishment of combat missions. Officers practiced improvement of combat preparedness of their units consistent with new regulatory documents," says a report seen by Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"The training engaged over 20,000 servicemen and more than 7,000 pieces of armaments and military hardware," it said.
