Russia's 12th aid convoy may be sent to Donbas on Jan 31 (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The 12th convoy with humanitarian aid for Ukraine's south-eastern regions has been formed and is expected to depart for Donetsk and Luhansk on January 31.

"The formation of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's 12th humanitarian aid convoy for Donbas has been completed in the Rostov region. It is ready for departure. It includes more than 170 trucks carrying over 1,500 tonnes of humanitarian supplies," a ministry spokesman said on Friday.

The aid convoy is expected to leave the Don rescue center on Saturday.

Canned fish, cereals, flour, pasta goods, sun-flower seed oil, antibiotics, blood-derived products and insulin, as well as first necessity items, construction materials (glass and slate), wiring and suspended insulators for high-voltage transmission lines will be delivered to the Luhansk and Donetsk region, the spokesman said.

"The 12th humanitarian aid convoy is expected to leave the Don rescue center of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry on January 31 and will then split in two groups. One of them, comprising more than 80 trucks, will head to the Donetsk border cross point and will arrive in Luhansk. The second one, comprising almost the same number of vehicles, will travel to the Matveyev-Kurgan border crossing point and then to Donetsk," he said, adding that more than 750 tonnes of cargo will be delivered to Donetsk and the same amount to Luhansk. All trucks underwent routine maintenance and are in good order.

"The drivers received additional instructions for driving in complicated weather conditions because a dense fog is possible along the route," he said.

Russia has delivered more than 14,800 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the Luhansk and Donetsk regions since mid-August 2014.
