DPR would accept UN peacekeepers' deployment if fighting stops first (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Feb 5 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic would not object to UN peacekeepers being deployed in eastern Ukraine but only on the condition of a ceasefire in that part of the country, according to the DPR's chief peace negotiator.

"After the shelling of the cities stops, it will be acceptable to deploy peacekeepers along the line of contact for the proper maintenance of peace and the non-resumption of the conflict. We can't rule out such a scenario but first of all - and that takes priority - fire must cease," Denis Pushilin told Interfax.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that a planned Russian-French-German summit on Friday was likely to result in a decision on the proposed deployment of peacekeepers.

"I think that this issue will also be clarified," ministry spokesman told a briefing in Moscow.
