MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - Russian security officers have identified a suspected spy within the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet as Sergei Minakov, a member of the Koida tanker crew.
"A criminal case has been opened against Minakov, who has been indicted with espionage. He served on the Koida tanker as part of the Feodosia division of vessels in the Black Sea," an informed source told Interfax on Monday.
Law enforcement officers conducted investigatory procedures on the tanker, following which the suspect was delivered to Moscow, he said.
A spokesperson for Moscow's Lefortovo District Court confirmed Minakov's arrest. "The court has ordered that Sergei Minakov be remanded in custody for two months, i.e. until March 28, 2015," court spokeswoman Yuliya Skotnikova said.
Interfax does not have any information about which country the accused was spying for.
