Deinego: Donbas problem cannot be resolved without political settlement process (Part 2)

MINSK. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Lasting peace in Donbas is unattainable without the political settlement process, chief negotiator of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) Vladislav Deinego has said.

"Lasting peace is impossible without the political settlement process. Life, including the events of December, has shown that the problem has no solution without the political settlement. So, the draft we have presented to the sides contains both military and political settlement measures," Deinego told reporters in the early hours of Wednesday.

In turn, chief negotiator of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin said the negotiations would be continued.

"We have taken a break but the negotiations will go on. All the other issues [will be discussed] tomorrow. The time for reopening [the negotiations] has yet to be set," Pushilin said.

As reported earlier, representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics presented a draft protocol regarding the peaceful settlement in Donbas to Contact Group members on Tuesday evening.

"We have presented to members of the Trilateral Contact Group a draft protocol comprising of a package of military and political settlement measures. Contact Group parties accepted the draft and promised to give their answer after a break," DPR chief negotiator Denis Pushilin told Interfax.
