First batch of humanitarian cargo brought to Rostov-on-Don

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 11 (Interfax) - An Ilyushin Il-76 plane from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry carrying humanitarian aid for Donbas landed at the Rostov airport on Wednesday, an Interfax correspondent reports.

"The shipment mostly consists of medicine and essential goods," a ministry representative told the press.

He said that was the first batch of humanitarian cargo to be transported by the 14th humanitarian truck convoy to Donbas.

On the way back, the plane will take aboard 13 injured people from the Donetsk region, among them six children. Doctors and specialists of the Center for Disaster Medicine came to Rostov-on-Don in order to accompany the patients to Moscow clinics.

It was reported earlier in the day that the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry is forming the 14th humanitarian convoy for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the Rostov region.

The ministry has sent over 18,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid via trucks to the Luhansk and Donetsk regions since the middle of August of 2014.
