FSB invites UN officials to intl security conference

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - The Federal Security Service has invited UN officials overseeing antiterrorism issues to partake in the 14th conference of heads of security services and law enforcement agencies to be hosted by Russia this year.

FSB International Cooperation Department Head Valery Domnin has delivered the invitation from FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov to "UN officials supervising antiterrorism issues", a source at the FSB Public Relations Center told Interfax on Friday.

Domnin was speaking to Counter-Terrorism Committee members at the UN New York headquarters. He highlighted the importance of annual international conferences which contributed to the joint deterrence of "foreign terrorist fighters" mostly through information exchanged between security services.

The FSB official directed the attention of the audience to the successful work of Russia with foreign partners in the secure holding of the Sochi Winter Games in 2014.

The 13th conference was held in Sochi on April 9-10, 2014. It was attended by 79 delegations from 55 states and three international organizations.
