MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's group of remote sensing satellites will be expanded in 2015, Valery Zaichko of the Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) said.
"The Russian network transferring, processing and distributing remote sensing data will develop in 2015. The launch another four remote testing satellites is planned," Zaichko said at the 52nd session of the scientific-technological sub-committee of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space in Vienna.
Russia will put into orbit: the Resurs-P3 satellite with a resolution of less than one meter, the Meteor-M2-1 satellite with a resolution of 50-70 meters, a monitoring width of 1,000 kilometers and global coverage of the Russian territory within two or three days, the Kanopus-V-IK satellite with infrared monitoring gear, and the Elektro-L2 geostationary hydro-meteorological satellite with global remote sensing capacities.
The Russian government's decision to lift restrictions on the use of data transmitted by national remote sensing satellites will broaden the range of services and improve their quality, the Federal Space Agency representative said.
