Russia to offer UN HRC to adopt statement over V-Day 70th anniversary

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is expected to speaker at the 28th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on March 2, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

"The Russian side will come up with an initiative to adopt a statement of the UN HRC president over the 70th anniversary of the World War II victory. We hope for a constructive approach of all interested delegations," the ministry said.

Lavrov will also hold a traditional meeting with the heads of international organizations and of their offices in Geneva which will address a large number of issues on the international agenda, as well as Russia's cooperation with the organizations, it said.
