DPR doesn't want Western peacekeepers

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - Denis Pushilin, deputy chairman of the People's Council of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), believes the attempts made by Kyiv to seek the sending of foreign peacekeepers to Donbas are dangerous.

Pushilin recalled that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has approved the request to the UN and the EU to send peacekeepers to Ukraine by signing a relevant law.

In this regard, Pushilin recalled that the Minsk agreements "gave the OSCE the role of observing, monitoring and verifying the ceasefire regime and heavy weapons withdrawal and also other measures to rebuild life in the region."

"We believe the OSCE is performing its functions and we have no reason to change anything," Pushilin told the Donetsk News Agency.

Pushilin believes "such efforts at interference may sabotage the process that is turning the conflict towards peace."
