KYIV. March 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday night submitted to Verkhovna Rada a bill naming areas of Donbas with special self-government procedures.
The relevant draft #2374 dated 14.03.2015 is posted on the website of Verkhovna Rada.
The draft listing districts, cities, towns and villages in Donetsk and Luhansk regions where a special mode of local-self government will be introduced has been submitted to the Ukrainian parliament for consideration.
On Friday the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk (DPR) and Luhansk (LPR) People's Republics, Alexander Zakharchenko and Igor Plotnitsky, jointly called on French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to put pressure on the Kyiv authorities in order to make them honor the Minsk agreements.
"The Verkhovna Rada has not even started to debate a resolution containing a list of districts in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions that will enjoy special rights in accordance with Ukraine's law 'On the special status of Donbas'," they said.
"The 30 days that were assigned for the implementation of the resolution in accordance with the roadmap approved in the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements expire tomorrow, on March 14," they said.
