Demining of Debaltseve to take two weeks - Zakharchenko

DONETSK. March 17 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is surprised at the scale of mining in Debaltseve.

"Lots of sites have been mined. Ukraine has mined everything. We are not prepared for demining operations of such scope but we will be clearing mines from the area for the next two weeks," DPR leader Alexander Zakharchenko told reporters during his working trip to Debaltseve.

People are returning home but there are numerous infrastructural problems to deal with, he said.

"People are coming back. The main problems are electrical power and water supply," Zakharchenko added.
