Donetsk region 'military governor' vows to ban caterpillar hardware movements in residential areas

KYIV. March 17 (Interfax) - The head of the Donetsk region's Kyiv-appointed military-civilian administration, Oleksandr Kykhtenko, believes it is advisable to restrict movements of caterpillar military vehicles in residential areas.

Kykhtenko told the 112 television station on Tuesday morning that he was going to the village of Kostiantynivka, where a child was run over by an airborne fighting vehicle on March 16.

"A set of measures will be adopted in order to protect the civilian population from such incidents. Restrictions will be imposed on the movement of military hardware, new itineraries will be established and caterpillar military vehicles will be banned from moving on their own," Kykhtenko said.

These steps will be taken in coordination with the command of the Ukrainian army operation in Donbas and will apply to all parts of the Donetsk region controlled by the Ukrainian army, he said.

An eight-year-old girl was killed and a woman was injured when a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier lost control of his vehicle hitting pedestrians in the village of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region, on March 16.
