Poroshenko hopes UNSC and General Assembly will endorse Donbas peacekeeping mandate

KYIV. March 24 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and UN Development Program Administrator Helen Clark have discussed the possibility of deploying peacekeepers to the south-east of Ukraine, as well as ways to promote reforms in the country.

"The parties discussed a wide range of issues, with focus on the situation in Donbas and the possibility of involving peacekeepers in measures to settle the situation in the region. The president reiterated the need to bolster efforts to secure the deployment of peacekeepers under UN aegis with the aim of de-escalating the situation in Donbas.
