MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - Crimea leader Sergei Aksyonov said Ukrainian channels' broadcasts would not be resumed in Crimea under any circumstances.
"A re-launch of a Ukrainian channel's broadcasts in Crimea is absolutely out of the question. It's an insane and stupid idea," Aksyonov told reporters in comments on Ukrainian politicians' claims that a Ukrainian channel could re-launch broadcasts to Crimea.
Speaker of the Crimean legislature Vladimir Konstantinov in turn said that he doubted a Ukrainian channel would be in demand in Crimea.
"Our people are extremely loyal to all nations. But there's a certain allergy in Crimea to Ukraine as a state. We are not banning Ukrainian channels' broadcasts. Our people just can't and don't want to watch these Ukrainian channels," he said.
Ukraine's information policy minister, Yuriy Stets, said in an interview with Radio Liberty on Monday that a Ukrainian radio station would resume broadcasts to Crimea soon.
"I think you will see the coordinates and frequency of the radio station that will broadcast programs to Crimea on the Information Policy Ministry's website in about three days, perhaps on Tuesday," Stets said.
"The Russian authorities will have to make a lot of effort to jam this signal," he also said.
