Rate of terror crimes goes up 70% in Russia in 2014 - Prosecutor

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - The rate of terror crimes increased by almost 70% in Russia in 2014, said Prosecutor General Yury Chaika.

"The year 2014 saw a noticeable rise in the rate of terror crimes - by almost 70%," Chaika told senior prosecutors in Moscow on Tuesday.

"One of the reasons for this trend is the introduction of criminal liability for membership in armed groups in foreign countries - 250 such crimes were registered last year. However, law enforcement agencies should take much stronger preventive measures in this area," Chaika said.
