Moscow not dramatizing National Coalition's refusal to attend intra-Syrian talks - source

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - The refusal by representatives of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (NCSROF) to attend the second round of informal consultations among Syrian opposition groups in Moscow is no tragedy and should not affect the representativeness of the Syrian opposition, a Russian diplomatic source told Interfax.

NCSROF representatives have refused to attend the consultations, the source said.

"This is indeed so. But we still continue working with NCSROF representatives," the source said.

"That they are not coming is not a tragedy. They do not represent the whole spectrum of the Syrian opposition. The first meeting at which they were absent was very successful, as we think: it was highly praised both by the UN and our other partners," the source said.

Last Monday A NCSROF representative told Interfax about the coalition's decision not to attend the second round of informal talks of Syrian opposition in Moscow. "We will not come to Moscow because our suggestions concerning the first round were not taken into account," senior NCSROF member Badr Jamous said.
