Snap military drills prove success of Northern Fleet joint strategic command - top general

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - The chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, has highly praised the snap military drills held in the Armed Forces, noting the good performance of the Northern Fleet's joint strategic command.

"The joint strategic command of the Northern Fleet has succeeded," he told President Vladimir Putin.

"For the first at this drill, we sent combat-control signals under a new scheme: from an on-duty general at the National Center direct to weapons of the naval strategic nuclear forces," he said.

"I must report that combat crews were prepared quite well and a reliable signal delivery and control system has been created which guarantees receipt and confirmation of such signals," Gerasimov said.
