Shoigu reports on Baltic Fleet's combat-readiness checks

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - During the recent snap military drills the whole of the Baltic fleet was inspected on the subject of combat readiness, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"Submarines executed the tasks of searching and destroying hostile ships and sailing under difficult weather conditions," he told President Vladimir Putin.

For their part, the Coastal Troops practiced all training missions at test and training ranges, he said.

A group of troops stationed in the Kaliningrad region was reinforced with eight redeployed operational-tactical aircraft, the minister said.
