MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has denied any link between snap military drills and NATO reinforcement in Eastern Europe, in particular, the Baltic States.
"No, there is no such link. This is not the first month that snap checks were held, not even the first year, I would say. This is due to the normal military build-up in the Russian Federation, the improvement and maintenance of permanent combat readiness, the training process in the Russian Armed Forces," Russian President's Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
This practice has already proved highly efficient and useful for the development of the Armed Forces, he said.
Asked whether Iskander missile systems will be moved to their base or remain in the Kaliningrad region, Peskov recalled that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had already said that "all units and formations have returned to their bases."
