Russian Foreign Ministry optimistic about first signs of stability in southeast Ukraine

MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - Moscow is optimistic over the first signs of stability returning to the south-east of Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich has said.

"According to our assessments, which are shared by the participants in the Normandy format, including representatives of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), the situation is the south-east of Ukraine is better today than it was before," he said.

"We show cautious optimism when we speak about the start of its gradual return to stability," the Russian diplomat said.
