"In all, the drill involves about 40,000 personnel and about 1,500 units of military and special hardware," Russian First Deputy Interior Minister and Internal Troops Commander-in-chief Col. Gen. Viktor Zolotov told reporters on Monday.
The drill on the subject of "Deploying troops in a complicated operational environment in Russian regions" is currently held across all of Russia, including its Northwestern, Central, Volga, North Caucasus, Southern and Crimean Federal Districts, he said. .
In addition, the drill involves the Internal Troops general headquarters, command and control bodies, as well as Internal Troops military schools based in Novosibirsk, Saratov and Perm, and security officers.
