OSCE mission reports more fire in Donbas

KYIV. April 9 (Interfax) - The OSCE special monitoring mission (SMM) in Ukraine has recorded an increase in the number of violations of the ceasefire in Donetsk region, including some involving heavy armaments, the report for April 7 posted on the OSCE website on Wednesday says.

"While at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) observation post at the Donetsk railway station between 10:25 a.m. and 12:15hrs, the SMM heard sounds of 132 explosions, heavy-machine gun and small-arms fire," the report says.

At the same time in Dokuchaievsk controlled by the militia the SMM heard continuous distant artillery fire south-west of its position.

In government-controlled Mironivskyi the SMM heard 20 incoming explosions estimated to be the result of 122mm GRAD impacts, and three incoming 120mm mortar explosions, at a distance of about 2-5km north-north-east of its position, it says.

The SMM continued to monitor the situation around Shyrokyne, 16 km east of Mariupol. In the morning it heard sounds consistent with three tank shots and sporadic small-arms fire.

In Luhansk region, the SMM observed the security situation to be relatively calm.
