MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called on Nils Muiznieks, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, to pay close attention to the situation in Ukraine.
"We are concerned by the fact that the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights pays virtually no attention to the catastrophic humanitarian situation in southeastern Ukraine," Lavrov told a press conference in Moscow on Thursday following a meeting with Didier Reynders, chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
"We are hoping that this situation will change," Lavrov said.
Lavrov said that "attention needs to be given to the protection of human rights across the entire territory of Ukraine, for example, regarding access to the mass media."
