Russian Helicopters showcases civil, military aircraft at LAAD show in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO. April 14 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Helicopters (part of the state corporation Rostec) is taking part in the Latin American exhibition and conference for aerospace and defense technologies (LAAD Defence & Security 2015) which is taking place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on April 14-17, a company spokesperson told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

"Russian Helicopters is displaying a model range of serially-produced commercial and military helicopters and promising innovations to their Latin American customers," the spokesperson said.

"Latin America is one of the most promising markets for Russian helicopter makers. Our helicopters, both civilian and military ones, have long been used in this region, and Russian Helicopters continues to supply modern machines which combine advanced technologies, great potential for use, reliability and simplicity in service," company chief Alexander Mikheyev said.

Among the company's products displayed at the show is the Mil Mi-171A2 multirole helicopter, the spokesperson said. This machine is based on the experience of using Mi-8/17 helicopters in all parts of the world. Its creators used the best possible design solutions, newest technologies and material. Russian Helicopters started test flying the new model in November 2014.
