Donetsk republic urges Kyiv to 'quiet down' voluntary battalions in Shyrokyne

DONETSK. April 21 (Interfax) - Speaker of the Donetsk self-declared republic's legislature Andrei Purgin said withdrawal of Ukrainian voluntary battalions is a must if a ceasefire is to established in Shyrokyne.

"Shyrokyne has neither tactical nor strategic significance. The voluntary nationalistic battalions which are a source of tension in the area, must be quieted down. This place is distracting the attention from other tasks of a larger scope. Remove the Azov battalion and the situation will quiet down immediately. Peace and quiet will set in within 24 hours," Purgin told the press on Tuesday.
