KYIV. April 27 (Interfax) - European Council President Donald Tusk said the European Union would send a civil mission to Ukraine as soon as it is practicable.
He said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and European Commission President Jean-Claude Junker in Kyiv on Monday that in fact a discussion had begun about possible security and defense solutions. But now, as before, one can only talk about a civil, not military, fact-finding mission, he said.
Tusk said that the EU had already declared its support for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's mission.
Aware of the Ukrainian public's and Ukrainian leadership's expectations, we are heeding them, and we will send out a civil fact-finding mission as soon as it is practicable, Tusk said.
