BRUSSELS. April 27 (Interfax) - The European Commission announced on Monday that it would increase its contribution to the effort to create a safe environment at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant by 70 million euro.
The European Union is already providing unprecedented aid to Ukraine and will continue doing so, European Commission head Jean-Claude Junker said at an EU-Ukraine summit in Kyiv, according to a communique circulated in Brussels.
The EU is making an additional 70 million euro available to fully restore the safe environment at the scene of a devastating disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, he said. These moves speak more than words, as the EU is helping make Chernobyl a safe place again, Tusk said.
