Minsk meetings of Trilateral Group's subgroups give hope of resolving Ukrainian crisis - Russian representative

MINSK. May 7 (Interfax) - The Russian representative at the Contact Group talks in Minsk, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador for Special Missions Azamat Kulmukhametov, has said that a meeting of subgroups gives a hope that the situation in Donbas will be settled.

"What was done today will facilitate the ceasefire and the resolution of other pressing issues. Each working group has outlined its area of work," he said.

At its sessions the subgroup on political settlement will consider the issue of Donbas elections, Kulmukhametov also said.

"The working group on political issues will be dealing, in particular, with the problems of autonomy of the Ukrainian regions on the basis on the Donbas elections," he said

The subgroup on economic issues will be in charge of restoring the financial and economic infrastructure of Donbas, he said. "The subgroup on economic issues will deal with payouts to the population and restoration of the banking system," Kulmukhametov said.
