MOSCOW. May 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian and Chinese warships have trained in anti-piracy operations during one of the sessions of the current Naval Interaction 2015 in the Mediterranean, the executive head of the exercise said on Wednesday.
The ships trained in recovering a ship from pirates, and detaining, searching and escorting a pirate vessel, Rear Adm. Viktor Kochemazov told Interfax-AVN. They trained rescuing a distressed ship during the same session, held in the eastern part of the sea.
The vessels involved in the session were Russia's guided missile cruiser Moskva, frigate Ladny, landing ships Alexander Shabalin and Alexander Otrakovsky, hoverborne guided missile corvette Samum and tugboat MB-31, and China's frigates Linyi and Weifang and supply ship Weishanhu, Kochemazov said.
