Novorossiya project not closed - Pushilin

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - An official representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Denis Pushilin, has denied media reports about the Novorossiya project being frozen.

"Suspension or closure of the process is out of question. It has simply gone onto a different level. Now we have a chance to move from a military standoff to the political one," Pushilin told the Russian News Service.

It will be possible to implement the idea of Novorossiya after the Ukrainian constitution is amended, Pushilin said. Kyiv must honor the Minsk agreements, he recalled.

The Russian News Service said that media outlets had reported earlier that supporters of the Luhansk and Donetsk people's republics had formally announced the freezing of the Novorossiya project that involved the eponymous unification of the regions seeking independence from Ukraine.
