MOSCOW. May 22 (Interfax) - Ruslan Mukhudinov, a resident of Chechnya, is not newly implicated in the killing of Boris Nemtsov, Vadim Prokhorov, a lawyer for the victims, said.
"He is not a new person implicated in this case, Mukhudinov has been implicated in the case for a long time, we didn't speak about him because we believe he is not the mastermind," Prokhorov told Interfax on Friday.
Prokhorov confirmed that investigators are now probing Mukhudinov's possible involvement in the crime and are now working on determining his whereabouts. "Investigative actions in his residence were conducted a fairly long time ago," the lawyer said.
Kommersant reported on Friday that a new person is implicated in the killing of Boris Nemtsov. "Law enforcement officials have visited his residence and questioned his relatives on the orders of the Main Investigations Department of the Investigations Committee," the paper said.
According to the paper, Mukhudinov's relatives were asked standard questions such as whether Mukhudinov was in Moscow at the time when Nemtsov was killed and for what purpose, whether he was interested in politics, whether he uses drugs and drinks alcohol and how he behaves while under their influence, what his religious affiliation is and whether the publication of cartoons in the French magazine Charlie Hebdo was discussed in the family.
