Poroshenko, Merkel, Hollande reaffirm need to fulfill Minsk deal

KYIV. May 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande have reaffirmed the need to fulfill every provision of the Minsk agreements, especially those regarding ceasefire, pullback of heavy weapons and liberation of all hostages, at a meeting in Riga.

Poroshenko cited the lack of progress in the release of prisoners, among them Nadiya Savchenko who, in his words, is being illegally held by Russia, the Ukrainian president's press service said.

In addition, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande coordinated the efforts to be taken before the G7 summit in Munich in June.

Riga is playing host to an Eastern Partnership summit on May 20-21.
