Ukraine 'bombarding peaceful cities,' building up artillery, armor forces along frontline - DPR

DONETSK, Ukraine. May 25 (Interfax) - The self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic claimed on Saturday that Ukraine was currently building up artillery and armor forces along the frontline, and that the Ukrainian army was "bombarding peaceful cities."

"As a result of attacks, one person in the DPR army has been wounded. Ukraine continues to build up its armed forces group along the line of contact," the DPR's chief military spokesman, Eduard Basurin, told reporters.

"In the area of Hrodivka 13 self-propelled artillery systems, five field guns and two Grads [Grad multiple rocket launchers] are concentrated. In Yasnohrodivka there are two tank companies, in the area of Kurakhove three self-propelled artillery systems and up to 10 armored vehicles, in Talakivka two self-propelled artillery systems, in the area of Dliyivka a tank unit that may be as large as a platoon and two self-propelled artillery systems, and in the area of Hnutove and Mykolivka firing emplacements for self-propelled artillery systems," Basurin said.

"This artillery that has been detected is used for bombarding peaceful cities," he said.

Basurin said that altogether Ukraine has up to 45,000 troops, up to 380 tanks, 1,800 armored personnel carriers and infantry combat vehicles, 80 field guns and 70 airplanes and helicopters deployed along the frontline.

He said the militia was strictly complying with the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, earlier, Ukrainian officials had blamed the bombardments on the DPR.
